The movie 3 Idiots is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The movie is releasing on 25th December. The movie has some famous names associated with it. The movie also has a first to its name; that is film's soundtrack was released online via a live videoconference on the movie's official portal. This has happened for the first time in the history of Bollywood.
The songs have been composed by Shantanu Moitra-Swanand Kirkire team who always give their best to Vidu Chopra’s production. The album has five original numbers and two remixes and some of them already started to make waves. Let’s talk about songs of the 3 Idiots. The album begins with ‘All Izz Well...’ which is more like a fun filled campus song. Sung by Sonu Nigam, Swanand Kirkire and Shaan, song has very energetic vibes and will make you tap your feet. Songs also has a remixed version.
The next number of the album is ‘Zoobi Doobi’ which is basically a retro track. Sung by talented duo of Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam, it also has a remixed version. ‘Behti Hawa’ is the next track of the album. Shaan and Shantanu Moitra have lent their voices to this song. Shaan especially does a commendable job. This is a soft number with soft musical backing. The next track is ‘Give me some sunshine’ rendered by Suraj Jagan. It also has dialogues by Sharman Joshi. Song has got that rebel attitude and will most likely appeal to younger lot. The last song is ‘Jaane nahin denge’ rendered by Sonu Nigam. All in all, the album will have its days in coming time.

Music Directors: Shamir Tandon, Sharib Sabri and Toshi Sabri;
Lyricists: Ajay Garg, A.M. Turaz, Sandeep Nath and Kumaar;
Singers: Sonu Kakkar, Lata Mangeshkar, Sharib Sabri, Toshi Sabri and Neil Nitin Mukesh;
Jail is the upcoming movie of National Award Winner Madhur Bhandarkar who has previously given us Fashion, Page 3, Chandni Bar and Corporate etc. The movie stars emerging talents Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mugdha Godse. The music of the movie has been composed by brothers Sharib and Toshi Sabri along with Shamir Tandon. Like other movies of Madhur Bhandarkar, Jail also does not have too many songs. It just has four songs and the soundtrack promises to be a mix of pacy as well as melodious numbers.
The album begins with "Bareli ke bazaar mein" that appears more like an item number. Sung by Sonu Kakkar, this song is more oriented for masses. Quite a fast paced and energetic mix, it has a mixture of rustic influences with western electronic beats. You will also find the remixed version of the song that has English lyrics as well. The remixed version pales in comparison to the original one.
‘Daata Sun Le’ is the next song that is devotional in nature. The greatest female singer of India, Lata Mangeshkar has sung this beautiful song. She has crooned after a long time. Her voice definitely gives the song an edge and it is kind of soothing. As is the trend, the song is also present in contemporary version.
The next song is "Milke yun laga", crooned by Sharib. It is basically a love ballad that has elements of rock as well. The last song of the album is "Sainya ve" sung by talented Toshi. Quite an impact song this one is. It is available in both versions.
Quick Gun Murugan – Music Review
The music of this movie has been composed by Sagar Desai. However, emerging Indi-pop singer Raghu Dixit has also chipped in for the song Murugan Superstar. The movie generated quite a buzz and was full of humour and funny scenes. Interestingly, the album begins with a Dialogue Mix and no doubt it’s hilarious. Quick Gun Murugan first came into prominence with Channel V's iconic bovine-loving cowboy and boasts of a loyal fan following. The opening dialogues are quite exaggerated but that is supposed to be specialty of the favourite southern gunslinger. It is quite long but, well you will manage to finish it off and will have your quota of some chuckles as well.
‘Murugan Superstar’ is the next number composed by Raghu Dixit and I must say, it’s a light, happy and easy composition. The chorus is great fun and song comes as very simple and yet quite effective. The next one is ‘Mind It’. Many people consider it as a Tamil Bhangra and you will have to accept that song is very innovative. Composition is quite interesting and song has the double bonanza flavor of bhangra and sambhar. ‘Kyoon Keeda Hai Aapko’ will certainly make you laugh. It’s witty and hilarious.
‘The sombrero’ is the next offering and it will remind you of great cowboy western themes. You can consider it as the theme song and it’s catchy as well. ‘Chat Mangni Lover’ is the next number which is basically a retro ballad. The song leaves a lot to be desired after generating the initial excitement. More of a predictable song but yes, it has great chorus. ‘Kuchi Kuchi Twist’ is breezy in nature whereas ‘Mera Naam Mango Dolly’ is a cabaret number that is appealing as well as spoofy. The last one is ‘Space Goddess’, a remixed version but it will make you move. All in all, quite an interesting album with elements of fun.
Devotional songs
One musical genre that has always remained in demand is devotional songs. These songs are in existence in centuries. No matter what, even though time has drastically changed, people’s preferences have totally changed and yet this one genre refuses to go out of fashion. If we go back to history, devotional songs have remained the hot flavour throughout the civilization. Devotional songs were first seen in form of prayers used to offer to Gods. There was a certain rhythm and harmony in the mantras chanted for God. Going forward, middle age witnessed mesmerising poets and singers like Surdas and Tulsidas who composed huge numbers of songs dedicated to almighty. By singing devotional songs, one gets a chance to offer his gratitude and prayers to the supreme almighty. There are no fixed rules or forms for such songs. It could be in form of Bhajans, Qawali and now a days even devotional pop songs. Just listen to one song ‘Barso Yaaro’ in the movie London Dreams. It is a fast, rock songs and yet you will be hearing rock version of Hanuman Chalisa and you are sure to love it.
Indian movies have remained the best platform for proliferation of devotional songs. Some of the devotional songs shown in movie have acquired cult status. Remember, ‘Sukh ke sab saathi dukh mein na koi’ or ‘Allah tero naam ishwar tero naam’? These devotional songs can never go out of fashion.
Some of the popular devotional songs are, ‘Sant Samaagam Kije Aarti’, ‘O Paalanhaare Nirgun Aur Nyaare’, ‘Mai Toh Aaratee Utaru’, ‘Yaha Waha Jaha Taha Mat Puchho’, ‘Tumhi Ho Mata Pita Tumhi’, Ek Tu Hi Bharosa’, and ‘Ishwar Allah tere Jahan Mein’ etc. These songs have been sung by singers of different religions and that reflects ubiquitous appeal of these devotional songs.

New York – Music Review
The movie ‘New York’ ended bollywood’s dry run by becoming a modest success. The movie did a good business in different parts of the country including abroad. New York is often referred as ‘City of Paradise’ and is associated with flamboyance. Kabir Khan, the director after his critically acclaimed ‘Kabul Express’ did manage to step up the tempo and gave a good movie catered around the universal theme of terrorism. The music of the movie is composed by talented Pritam and stars John Abraham, Neil Mukesh and beautiful Katrina Kaif. Produced by Yash Raj Films, movie has terrific songs and was well received by public.
The song ‘Hai Junoon’ has been sung by hugely talented Kay Kay Menon and many consider as the best song of the album. Lyrics have been written by Sandeep and song thrives on mild rhythms on synthesized percussions-guitars. Singer has done wonders with the song. The song proved to be a chart buster and even the remix version was for long remained a party circuit favorite. The second song ‘Mera Sang’ has been rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan. The song is worth listening again and again. There is certain lazy elegance about the song. Sunidhi has like always delivered a commendable job.
‘Tune Jo Na Kaha’ has been sung by emerging star Mohit Chauhan and I must say, this guy has got oodles of talent. He has recently delivered one hit after another and there is no stopping this guy from scenic place Himachal Pradesh. Truly a mesmerizing singer he is. Next song is ‘Aye Saaye’ and the vocal is by Pankaj Awasthi. It is sufiana song that has elements of contrast which makes it even more appealing. ‘Sam’s Theme (Instrumental)’ is the next number with vocals by Caralisa Monteiro. The last number in the album is ‘New York Theme’ which is quite a different one. It has elements of hard rock and percussions. Overall, the album is worth having a dekko.

Morning Walk – Music Review
Morning Walk was released a month or two back. Movie starred veteran actors Anupam Kher and Sharmila Tagore, it was well received by critics but failed to impress the masses. It was a small budget movie aimed at showcasing urban life family issues. The leading actors of the movie reunited on the screen after a gap of 25 years. Debutant Jeet Ganguly composed the music for the movie. He has earlier been associated with successful music director Pritam Chakraborty. The music of the movie failed to create any music among the masses. However, movie does not have any remixes and that is a welcome respite.
The first song of the album is ‘Aasma choona hai’ and it has been sung by Shaan. One has to bear with long prelude before he actually gets to hear the lyrics. The track is quite soft and youth oriented. However, one problem of English lyrics in between the song takes the fun away. ‘Bhor Bhayo’ is the next song which is basically a semi-classical number. Song is a clever mix of Indian and western music. Crooned by Ustad Rashid Khan with ample support from Shreya Ghosal and Joi Barua, this can be termed as pick of the album. Song will be most likely to hold your attention for a while. ‘Dolna’ is the next track which is basically a slow-paced song.
‘Manwa’ is the next song that is essentially a fusion song. It fails to generate any excitement. ‘Meethi meethi baatein’ has been sung by Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal. It is a romantic song. The last song of the album is ‘Nachle’ and is a dance number.
