Housefull : Music Review
Houseful is the upcoming venture of Sajid Khan of ‘Heyy Baby’ fame. Movie stars Akshay Kumar and Ritiesh Deshmukh. The music has been composed by Shankar Mahadevan-Ehsaan Noorani-Loy Mendonsa and lyricists are Sameer and Amitabh Bhattacharya. An array of talented singers like Loy, Tarun Sagar, Alyssa Mendonsa, Neeraj Shridhar, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Ritu Pathak, Mika Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shankar Mahadevan, Sajid Khan, Arun Ingle, Shabbir Kumar and Vivinenne Pocha etc have rendered their voices for the movie.
Composer trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have done very well in recent times. In this album, there are five originals tracks and three remixes. The album also has the flavour of 1980s with the inclusion of an old song of Amitabh Bachchan, "Apni toh jaise taise" and popular singer of the same era, Shabbir Kumar.
The album begins with "Oh girl you are mine" rendered by Loy Mendonsa and his daughter Alyssa along with Tarun Sagar. A romantic song in nature, it has soothing harmonica sounds and soft percussions. As is the wont of S-E-L, the number has an urban and hip touch to it. There is a remixed version of the same song that is quite suitable for the dance parties. The next number is "Papa jag jayega" crooned by Ritu Pathak, Neeraj Sridhar and Alyssa. This is a situational number with dash of fun and humour. Not exactly a great song, this can still be heard once.
The next number is "Aapka kya hoga (dhanno)" sung by Mika Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan and Sajid Khan. The song is a makeover of Amitabh Bachchan's popular track "Apni to jaise taise" from the 1981 film "Lawaaris". The song has got good potential of being a hit.
"I don't know what to do" marks the comeback of famous singer Shabbir Kumar after so many years. The track is quite entertaining and Sunidhi Chauhan has provided good support to the lead singer. The album ends with a song called "Loser" with Vivinenne Pocha and Amitabh Bhattacharya behind the mike. All in all, the album has got good potential to make cash register ringing.
