His album ‘Tanha Dil’s title song was ‘Tanha Dil, Tanha Safar’ and the song became a craze. A well choreographed song, it had catchy lyrics and of course freshness brought by Shaan’s voice. This song further established his credentials in the film music industry. One of the earlier songs that brought him fame and recognition was ‘Musu Musu hati’ from the movie Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi. In fact, this was his first song in a Hindi movie. The song was well received by youths and composers looking for a fresh voice had found a new one. That’s where his journey actually started.

Shaan kept churning one hit after another and next in the line was ‘Koi kahe kehta rahe’ from cult youth movie Dil Chahta Hai. The song was full of energy and positive vibes and Shaan did a perfect job with his vocals. He has experimented in other genres as well. Some Hit Songs of Shreya Ghoshal

Bollywood is blessed with huge singing talents. Earlier, people were wondering what would happen after golden old generation retires? But, then art and entertainment has no dearth of upcoming talents. If we talk about playback singing, in last one decade, several new faces have emerged. Many of them have proved their talents again and again. One such playback singer is Shreya Ghoshal. She first came into limelight when she won Zee TV’s SAREGAMA and since then there has been no looking back. She has given several hits in her career starting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s super hit Devdas. She is also a recipient of Film fare awards and National awards. Let’s talk about some of her beautiful songs.

Bairi piya from the movie Devdas was her ticket to fame. All thanks to Mr. Bhansali’s talent spotting ability, this is a wonderful song. Once you listen to this song, it will hard to imagine that a newbie has lent her voice to this mesmerizing song. The same movie had another song, ‘Dola re Dola’ and once again, she proved that her talent is no flash in the pan. Songs of this movie quite well declared that, Shreya Ghoshal is here to stay. She gave her voice to some other popular songs of the same movie like ‘Chalak Chalak’ and ‘Silsila ye chahat ka’.

Bhatt banner is famous for producing hit songs. The movie ‘Zeher’ was no exception. The biggest hit song of the movie was ‘Agar tum mil jao toh Zamana Chhod denge Hum’ and no prizes for guessing, the melodious and ultra-romantic song was sung by Shreya. It was a runaway hit that further established the growing reputation of Shreya Ghoshal.

‘Jism’ was another movie from the Bhatt stable and it had mind-blowing songs. Song ‘Jadoo hai nasha hai’ is definitely one of the most sensuous and romantic songs of recent times. This song was a formal affirmation of Shreya’s talent at different genres of songs. Her unique talent was again at fore for ‘Chalo tumkar lekar chale’ from the same movie. The list of her wonderful songs is endless and every now and then we will keep talking about some other beautiful songs sung by her.

popular songs

Humming to a familiar tune and suddenly forgetting the lyrics almost becomes like a puzzle. Hindi movie songs have a huge fan following from resident Indians and people who live abroad. The penchant for desi music is also common during main functions during a marriage ceremony which has apt collections in folk and situational music.

The song from Chandi with Mere haath mein nao nao chudi is a regular happening in the ladies sangeet. Aj mere yar ki shaadi is still a blockbuster with modern music and trends in dancing steps. Choreographed to new remix versions there are many shaadi songs like Budda mil gaya which is a jocular representation of the light vein atmosphere present during Indian weddings.

The recent music is a good compilation of hits from Krish and other popular beats from Dhoom. Some songs of the romantic versions from Hum dil dekhe chuke sanam is very heart whelming. There are popular songs from the old times like Ude jab jab zulfe tere or E meri zohrazabeen which makes anyone of us dance to the rendition.

There are many meaningful songs in the current era too. The songs in Metro like Tu jile zara or O jane ja from Raaz are a complete presentation of emotions and good music. An offbeat song like Meri maa which was sung by Shankar for the film Tare Zameen par is another kind of music which was popular and hummable.

Devotional songs from the yesteryears from the voice of Rafi saab like Duniya ke rakhwale or the latest  Lagaan bhajan O Paalan Hare is great music melody. Going to tracks from songs like Rock on which seems an inspiration to more music. The latest narration of Hanuman Chalisa in London dreams is yet another musical bonanza.

Wake Up Sid – Music Review

Well, before saying anything let’s take a look at the credit line of the movie; Karan Johar, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (SEL) and Javed Akhtar. Phew! What do you expect then? Some urbane, peppy and memorable song? True that. The music of ‘Wake Up Sid’ has already been released and it is gaining entry into chartbusters. For further effect, Amit Trivedi has also composed for the movie. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rahul Khanna, Anupam Kher, Shikha Talsania, Supriya Pathak and Namit Das, the movie promises to catch the fancy of youngsters.

The trio of SEL has had a mixed year so far with some hit and some miss. That explains why they have put their best foot forward in the music of this movie. The gifted trio can never be blamed for lack of effort and that’s why we can see how much effort they have put into the music of this urban flick. The first song of the album ‘Wake up call’ is a breezy one with ample usage of loud guitar strumming and thrilling percussions. The song boasts of upbeat rock music and backup vocals give the song a true urban feel.

The club mix of the same song has been made more thematically. Quite a high tempo song, one can feel like grooving on it. Definitely seems to be a chartbuster. 'Kya Karoon' is more on sentimental side and will remind you of bygone era. The next number is 'Aaj Kal Zindagi' and this is more like a motivating song. ‘Iktara’ has been composed by Dev D fame Amit Trivedi and the song is a very different one. It touches you and that is the beauty of this song. 'Life is Crazy' is a song on the mould of a carefree life. The album has all the essential ingredients of becoming a musical hit.

All the Best – Music Review

Rohit Shetty earlier made hit comedies like Golmaal and Golmaal Returns. Both were well received by the masses and the pair of Ajay Devgan and Rohit Shetty hit on the purple patch. They wish to continue the momentum with their new release ‘All the Best’. Movie promises to be a laugh riot and stars Ajay Devgan, Bipasha Basu, Fardeen Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Mugdha Godse, Asrani, Mukesh Tiwari, Ashwini Kalsekar and Johnny Lever. Music has been composed by Pritam and movie is a typical masala one. One can eagerly wait for elements like breath-taking stunts, splendid VFX, bankable face value with cool splash of rollicking thrust of rock-music and plenty of comedy. Pritam has been a roll with hits like New York, Dil Bole Hadippa and recently released Love Aaj Kal. So expectations are running high and ne expects Pritam Chakraborty to deliver big time in tune with large star cast of this larger than life flick.

Let’s begin with the track, ‘Dil Kare’. With blazing guitar playing in the background and accompanied by roaring vocals, this is sure to be a pulsating track. Concert lovers will love the feel of this song. Vocals by Suraj Jagan and Rupam Islam, dil kare will be in demand for some time. 'Haan Main Jitni Martaba' is a romantic track with varied tempo and supple vocal harmonies. Pritam wonderfully uses electric guitars, bass guitars, pianos and keyboards fillers in the songs of ‘All the Best’.

Title track 'All the Best' is totally fun with musical effect ruling the rust. Sung by Rana Mazumder, Soham Chakrabarthy along with Antara Mitra, this song thrives on ‘Samba’ music and rock music. 'Kyon' is a melodious song that I well sung by Clinton Cerejo. This number is most likely to touch your heart. The final offering is ‘You Are My Love' that is filled with fun and quite a racing number it is. The album in its totality is definitely Paisa-Vasool.

What’s Your Rashee? – Music Review

Almost all of Ashutosh Gowariker's movies have been identified with strong themes and wonderful music composed by Mozart from Madras, A R Rahman. But surprisingly this time, his movie ‘What’s Your Rashee’ does not have Rahman as composer. A new composer Sohail Sen has been roped in to compose music for this much anticipated movie. And needless to say, the chap has done a commendable job. The movie has Priyanka Chopra and Hurman Baweja in lead roles and movie was released recently. It’s a three hour long movie and has generated quite a buzz.

New composer Sohail Sen is the son of Sameer sen, himself a leading composer. The movie has wonderful songs belonging to different genres. There are romantic songs. Folk tunes, pacy numbers and rabic songs as well. Overall, this seems to be a good package. The film has total 134 songs and one song each for 12 zodiac signs (as per the theme of movie). Even Gowariker has sung in the movie.

The album starts with soft number and already a hit among masses ‘Jao na’. The composer Sen himself has sung the song along with Tarannum Malik. Definitely a pleasing song, it is intriguing as well. Young generation is sure to be appealed by the theme of the song. The next one is ‘Aaja lehrate’ sung by Shaan and Bhavya Pandit. Fast in nature, the song is quite peppy. However, it will fail to keep your attention for long.

‘Bikhri bikhri’ is the next song rendered by Sohail Sen and Marianne D. Cruz. Quite a soft and soothing song. Next in the list is ‘Mannunga mannunga’ that has been rendered by director Ashutosh Gowariker himself. The next track is ‘Sau janam’ which is basically a love ballet sung by Udit Narayan, Madhushree and Sen. Definitely one of the best songs of the album.

‘Aa le chal’ is the next one sung by Aslesha Gowariker which is an average one. Next in the list is ‘Pyaari pyaari’ sung by Alka Yagnik and Sen. A melodious song. ‘Su Che’ is sung by Sen and Bela Shende and is a fast-paced. ‘Salone kya’ is more into Arabic mould. Rest of the songs is ‘Dhadkan dhadkan’, ‘Pal pal jisko dhoonde’, ‘Koi Jaane na’ and ‘Chehra jo dekhe hain’. Overall, a decent album that you should try at least once.

New York – Music Review

The movie ‘New York’ ended bollywood’s dry run by becoming a modest success. The movie did a good business in different parts of the country including abroad. New York is often referred as ‘City of Paradise’ and is associated with flamboyance. Kabir Khan, the director after his critically acclaimed ‘Kabul Express’ did manage to step up the tempo and gave a good movie catered around the universal theme of terrorism. The music of the movie is composed by talented Pritam and stars John Abraham, Neil Mukesh and beautiful Katrina Kaif. Produced by Yash Raj Films, movie has terrific songs and was well received by public.

The song ‘Hai Junoon’ has been sung by hugely talented Kay Kay Menon and many consider as the best song of the album. Lyrics have been written by Sandeep and song thrives on mild rhythms on synthesized percussions-guitars. Singer has done wonders with the song. The song proved to be a chart buster and even the remix version was for long remained a party circuit favorite. The second song ‘Mera Sang’ has been rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan. The song is worth listening again and again. There is certain lazy elegance about the song. Sunidhi has like always delivered a commendable job.

‘Tune Jo Na Kaha’ has been sung by emerging star Mohit Chauhan and I must say, this guy has got oodles of talent. He has recently delivered one hit after another and there is no stopping this guy from scenic place Himachal Pradesh. Truly a mesmerizing singer he is. Next song is ‘Aye Saaye’ and the vocal is by Pankaj Awasthi. It is sufiana song that has elements of contrast which makes it even more appealing. ‘Sam’s Theme (Instrumental)’ is the next number with vocals by Caralisa Monteiro. The last number in the album is ‘New York Theme’ which is quite a different one. It has elements of hard rock and percussions. Overall, the album is worth having a dekko.
